a man in skirt in France in Lorraine52 years old, married and father of 2 children. I live in Moselle ( That's in Lorraine, north of Alsace). I work as a technician in a chemical industry.

  • What kind of skirts do you wear ?

I have got several kind of kilts :
A classical Scottish one, 2 longs scottish and 2 gothic style kilts very sobers because I don't like being under the lights. I have denim skirts medium-long and longs. For the moment, I only went out wearing kilts. When people in my town will get used to it, i will wear skirts.

  • Since when do you wear skirts ?  how did you evolute between your unic wearing of trousers and the wearing of a skirt ?

For many years, but at home. First, women's skirts such as denim because it was difficult to find models for men before the invention of the Internet. that's a Scottish kilt that my wife offered me for my 50th birthday that "liberated" me. it opened the door to the wearing of others skirts at home.

  • Where do you wear skirts ?

At home, nearly everyday. I also wear denim skirts, closed as trousers, medium-long and also one 3/4 long. These days I go outside wearing my Gothic kilt in which I feel at ease. For me, It's typically a man skirt. I go to the supermarket, to the bakery or recently to the dog club to train my dog.

  •  Who knows and who doesn't in your family ?

My brother, my sister know that i wear this kind of clothes at home but we don't speak about it. They may not know that I wear kilts outside my house but as I go shopping dressed like that it will be known very soon. The Neighborhood sees me when we go, with my wife, for a walk with our dog.

  • what kind of reactions from those who know and those you meet in the street ?

Few reactions, people I know  who I meet, to whom I speak to don't spaek about my garment.

I heard several times children saying " did you see mummy, the man , he has a skirt !" and no reaction from the mother, only a quick look.

  • What are the positive and negative anecdotes that touched you the most  ?

A lady, quite old, wearing trousers but very elegant, stopped me while I was skating wearing a kilt and asked me : " Are you from over there or you wear it because it's beautiful ?".
Surprised, I answered her that I wear this garment because it pleases to me and I feel at ease. She answered me that it suited me well. She was with her husband who didn't say anything during the conversation. He knows what he has to do now !

For the moment, no negative anecdote.

  • For you, what is the best style to have, for a man, to make his wearing of a skirt being better accepted ?

I think he must try to harmonise forms and colors with the masculine garments he wears " at the top". We have to behave normally, try to forget that some people will focus on the skirt and not attribute them valory judgement that they might not have. They hav their own concerns and often when you are far, they don't think about you anymore.

  • All you want to say about skirt for men ?

A comfortable garment which can, as for women, enhance the male body. Women are not insensitives to it... So be brave gentlemen, go for it !!

Once again many thanks for your website, it's very motivating to DARE going out wearing a skirt.
