We often make the mistake of equating men wearing skirts and men seeking more feminine in their clothing. We can also see, on  forums, conflicts between the two groups. We will see why, introduce each other and show that the two can live t together without conflict.

Above all, it is necessary to introduce :

Contrary to what one might think because of misconceptions, holders of skirts and men more or less feminine are not homosexuals, transvestites or transsexuals (read the article "Men in skirts, travesty, cross, femininity: it is not necessarily bound! "Jerome).

Men who are wearing skirts : Men who wear skirts do it for x reasons: comfort, beauty, variety, and so on. They do not necessarily search for femininity and choosing well their skirts, they can be quite male, and women can stay women with trousers. It is not necessary that I go further here because it is widely discussed in the rest of the site that is dedicated to that.

Men rather feminine : They are looking for clothes to emphasize their femininity; feminity, which is in them. We all have a part of femininity and masculinity in ourselves and each other appear more or less strongly depending on the person. One theory could be mentioned: the fact that men are more masculine and women more feminine comes from our education that forces us to be like this. Small phrases such as "you will not cry like a girl!" show it. We offer dinettes and games fairly quiet to girls, and cars and swords for boys, which are games more dynamic and violent. And it is transmitted from generation to generation. But why a man could not love suddenly, gentleness, sensitive things, and why a woman could not love mechanics, rally racing, etc.? It is our society that says, "Men must be this way and women like that but not identical things either." And that is also speaking about clothes. Only women managed over many decades to ignore these rules (the ability to be more masculine periodically or continuously, and to show it).  Men do not dare to do so, for fear of being devaluated because, whatever people may say, unfortunately, women have an image of inferiority in relation to men.

Why is there regularly a conflict between the two ?

Since the skirt is sadly missing from the men’s wardrobe, it took a purely feminine connotation because then wore only by women. The skirt has become women’s symbol and trousers the one for men. Just look at the small characters on the doors of the toilets. Therefore, men seeking for femininity use, most often, the skirt as the main reference of this femininity. How many times have I read the message from one of the men saying, "With a skirt, I feel more feminine." That's where the bottom hurts, especially among men who wear skirts remaining male. And yes, they are fighting to end this systematic feminine connotation of the skirt. And they are afraid that men using the skirt as the emblem of their femininity just break all their efforts. Even though these men in skirts are not intolerant, for them, men who are feminine come, in some way, undermine their struggle, that’s why there are tensions.

So what can be done to live together without conflict ?

We must correct a mistake made by feminine men, an mistake due to our society that created stereotypes and due to the feminine connotations of the skirt. In fact, this man, who said, "With a skirt, I feel more feminine," did not he forget to say that the skirt was a feminine skirt, which he wore possibly with a feminine top and / or feminine shoes? In most of the cases, yes ...

And as a woman, a man can be feminine with trousers. Everything depends on the style of trousers.

This is not the skirt itself, which allows him to feel more feminine, but this style of skirt, possibly worn with other clothes in the same style, which allows him to feel more feminine.

Some would say that even with a simple denim skirt they would feel more feminine. Others, however, with a skirt that is considered a little more feminine nowadays, would say that they are not feminine with it. In fact, everything depends on how one feels inside: more or less male / female. How many women say that they still feel feminine even with a masculine trucker shirt or a blue of work.

This amalgam is in contradiction with the men trying to integrate skirts into a masculine way, even if they are tolerant, they are afraid of the image they may have of them in conveying the skirt as the basis of femininity.

Therefore, to live together without such nuisances (involuntary) a fight against the other, those looking for femininity must not, wrongly, show the skirt as the reference to this femininity, but rather show that it is a package that femininity is in itself, and can be displayed, aesthetically speaking, by any clothes (trousers, skirt, top, shoes, etc.).  As the skirt is no longer presented as the  "emblem" of femininity, the wearers of skirt in a masculine way would no longer feel threatened.
