1 - The Italian renaissance :

 

At the time of Francis the Ist , men wore the pourpoint (adjusted sleeved vest that covers the chest) often lying in a skirt with straight pleats. Clothes, at the time, were in satin, velvet, taffeta and other noble materials.

 

 

2 - Farmers and Bourgeois ::

 

The bourgeoisie wanted to be like thenobility and dressed with pourpoint, a short or long dress and a coat; without any decorations.
