homme en jupe écossais : le Kilt

"Kilt" is a Danish word.

The kilt is a short skirt worn by Viking warriors who conquered all Northern Europe , Ireland and Normandy. Then, they moved to Scotland, where they adopted the "plaid" which was a kind of cover belted at the waist.

During the Roman occupation, a short skirt appeared, unbleached color, pleated at the back and stapped on the right side (the same as the current kilt).

In fact, the kilt is, initially, not Scottish .It was worn throughout Europe but with different names.

Men wear kilts in Scotland, Brittany, Normandy, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and on the Island of Man. Each country or region where men wear kilts has its own tartan (patterns and colors.)
