In 1532, in Barcelona, Esteban, a 12 years old orphan who seems to be able to call the Sun,accepts the offer from a mysterious sailor, Mendoza, to go to the New World in order to discover the legendary Gold Cities. he accepts whishinf to find his father, who  disappeared in a shipwreck twelve years before...

During this trip, the young boy became friend with Zia a young Inca girl and Tao, the last descendant of the Mu tribe, living on the Galapagos Islands. Esteban and Zia discovered that they both own a pendant, the sun medallions, supposed to be the keys to these Mysterious Gold Cities they  look for during all the story. They are taught a common quest, to find their respective fathers which destinies are linked with the Gold Cities. They discover Solaris, the legendary Sun's powerful nave of Mu's Empire then the Great Condor, a huge golden flying bird who will help them to travel through Southern and central America. unfortunately they will be pursued by the Spanish Armada ( including the Governor Pizzaro,  Commander Gomez and  Captain Gaspard), the Urubus, then marinche, Teteola and  Doctor Fernando laguerra and finally the Olmecs.

This series had been one of the most famous  for children and teenagers of the 80's, both in search of its scenario, the beauty of its drawings and the representation of a world that widely disappeared,as  the ease for the viewer to identify himself with heroes and to know about the Inca's worls thanks to documentaries. Its construction and its narration quite linear ( flashbacks are most of the time like dreams or visions) make this series being a real epic series comparable to great work of literature and movies.
