REPORT: (place of shooting and Jerome’s talking)

A walk in Limoges:

In France, there are many prejudices which of we cannot get rid of because people are used to them.

We are not used to seeing a man wearing skirt in our society and at this era so we will invent things about the one who wears a skirt.

In a clothing store :

The idea came to me, when I was at college, when summer was rather hot, and I can say that I was jealous of the girls who wore skirt, while we had to suffer in our trousers

Back to limoges’ streets :

The biggest barriers are the prejudices, i.e. to think that a man who wears skirts is homosexual or wishes to become a woman. Even if I knew that my will to wear skirts was for comfort, I was afraid that everyone looks at me, that everyone insults me. And at the end, I realized that 90% of the people I met did not have any negative reactions.

Jerome in front of his computer :

Often, when I come back from work, I kiss my wife, my children and I tell them “I will put myself at ease”.

Jerome’s fashion show:

The trousers have a seam, which goes up until the crotch, and when we sit down, the seam gives us less space for our anatomy. For me, the difference between a skirt and trousers is due only to one wire, that of the seam of the trousers.

Jerome in front of his computer showing his site :

In the History, men wore skirts, therefore during ages. That goes from the Egyptians who wore the loincloth, the kings who wore dresses, with the soldiers who carried tunics. And still today in certain countries, as for example Indonesians who wear the sarong in their everyday life.

In a clothing store :

My principal difficulty is that I do not find skirts in the stores for women because they are  too feminine or are not adapted to our morphology. So, the solution t I found is to do them myself.

Jerome sewing at home :

Now, it is for me like wearing trousers and I do not pay any more attention. Now, it is more my wife who notices the reactions. We met a couple of old people. And the man said “and the police tolerates that! ”. And his wife answered  “poor little girl ” talking about my daughter that I held with the hand. Therefore, in fact, for these people I was an ashamed thing that it was certainly necessary to lock up.

Back to the street in Limoges :

I am a normal man with normal morals.  I am heterosexual I have a wife, children, everything goes well in my work. I am like anyone else.

AFTER REPORT ON THE BROADCAST :

    - Cecile Gauthier: He’s got nerves this boy no?
    - Jean-Marc Ferrer: Yes, I think that the originality is initially a question of self-assurance. Finally, he is not out of phases, we are!
    - Cecile Gauthier: He is not
    - Jean-Marc Ferrer: No

    - Cecile Gauthier: He assumes his choice in fact.

    - Jean-Marc Ferrer: Exactly, that is the difference: to be able to assume its own difference, to be able to be accepted by the others. It is a beautiful lesson of tolerance.
    - Cecile Gauthier: Completely.

Jerome’s note :

This report was filmed at the end of February/at the beginning of March 2007 by Martin DUCROS’ team, very sympathetic, with whom I spent a good time and who manage to put me at ease (almost) faces to the camera.

I would like to thank France 3, Martin DUCROS, Cecile GAUTHIER, Jean-Marc FERRER and France 3’s team who have by, either the report or their remarks in the broadcast, emphasizes positively the fact that men could wear skirt.
